Implementation of the Quality Management System at RI Chem (Pasig) remains consistent with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2000. This was the finding of the second surveillance audit that examined the company’s QMS on April 29, 2008
 
Ms. Sophia Mangahas of Certification International Phils. conducted the second audit and found the QMS of RI Chem’s (Pasig) in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001: 2000 except for one (1) minor nonconformity that needs to be addressed immediately. She said the company is going to be recommended for continued certification to ISO 9001:2000 subject to submission and approval of adequate corrective action to one (1) minor nonconformity.
 

 
Audited Areas included product development, sales, purchasing, finance, customer satisfaction/customer feedback handling, internal audit/corrective/preventive action and management responsibility.
 
 
Ms. Mangahas said that the involvement and commitment of the top management was demonstrated and observed during the audit.
 
 
Conducted every six months, the audit is part of the terms and conditions for the maintenance of CIP’s certification of our QMS, a mechanism that aims to enhance the competitive of the organization.
 

 
You will recall that RI Chem obtained the certification to ISO 9002:1994 in December 2000. Three years after, the company was awarded the certification of QMS to ISO 9001:2001, covering activities such as marketing, product development, manufacture and sale of industrial chemicals (hot met products, blending plant products and synthetic resins).
 
In May 2007, the certification was extended till 2010 after CIP reassessed the company’s quality management system as conforming to ISO 9001:2000.
