RI Chem’s roots can be traced to Resins Inc. (RI) which was established in 1956 to venture into the manufacture of plywood adhesives. A year after, Resins Inc. entered into a licensing agreement with Reichhold Chemicals Inc. (RCI), USA, then one of the world’s largest producers of synthetic resins. The agreement lasted for 25 years.

In 1976, Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd. (ISK) of Japan appointed Resins Inc. as its exclusive agent in the Philippines for TIPAQUE Titanium Dioxide pigments. ISK is the biggest manufacturer of TiO2 pigments in Japan.
In 1996, RI Chem assumed the manufacturing and marketing activities of Resins Inc., particularly in the manufacture of synthetic resins business and that of other industrial chemicals for various industries in the country.
In 1999, RI Chem acquired additional facilities in Mindanao, further establishing its position as a leading player in the wood adhesives business in the Philippines.
As part of its commitment to quality, RI Chem in Pasig obtained the certification of its quality management system to ISO 9002:1994 in December 2000, and since then, it has maintained and upgraded its quality certification.
In 2004, RI Chem in Pasig obtained the certification of its quality management system to ISO 9001:2000. It also established the Butuan depot for plywood adhesives as part of its initiatives to improve customer services in the Visayas.
Committed to the protection and sustenance of our environment, RI Chem put up the Claveria Tree Nursery Incorporated (CTNI) in April 2006 to help conserve and renew Philippine forests and improve the long-term economic returns of tree growers, especially rural farmers and their families.
CTNI has established and operated a nursery in Gumaod, Claveria, Misamis Oriental that propagates seedlings by cloning and other means of seedling production from well selected stocks of various fast growing tree species such operation will also help improve the supply of quality wood to processing mills throughout the country.
RI Chem has close business relationships with MC Shipping Corporation, which provides charter-hire vessels for the bulk transport of plywood adhesives. MC Shipping manages two marine vessels, PICMW 1 and PICMW 2, each with a 350-metric-ton storage capacity.
